A Step Forward for Gas Detection Instruments

Scott Health & Safety introduces the NextStep™ portable instrument for Isocyanate and Semiconductor Gas Monitoring

Scott Health & Safety, Monroe, NC ( a part of Tyco Fire & Security Breathing Systems business unit) January 20, 2005 -- Scott Health & Safety today announced the introduction of the Nextstep gas monitoring instrument as the newest entry into its full line of GMD paper tape gas detection instruments. The new product provides a portable solution for detection of isocyanates and semiconductor gases, usually found in the manufacture of foams for the furniture and automobile industries and semiconductor gases for the chip fabrication industry.

The Scott NextStep is a portable, microprocessor-controlled instrument for leak detection, survey work, area monitoring and emergency response. The instrument detects gas by way of producing a color reaction on a paper tape cassette that is gas specific. The instrument's alpha-numeric LCD display shows the concentration level of the gas and audibly alerts the user that the environment is unsafe. The Scott Nextstep gas detection instrument has an improved user interface that provides for a more rapid leak detection. It also can be user calibrated in the field, providing a more user-friendly and cheaper alternative to instruments that must be factory-calibrated annually. An added feature of the Nextstep is the time stamp accumulated data that can be downloaded to any Windows-based PC.

The NextStep is the third evolution in monitoring equipment for monitoring isocyanates or semiconductor gases. It is an improved version of the Autostep gas detection instrument, originally designed by GMD Systems.
