Scott Health and Safety’s Ska-Pak® AT is the Automatic Respiratory Protection Solution
Monroe, NC – March 10, 2003 – When moving into or escaping from hazardous industrial, confined space, or IDLH (Immediately Dangerous to Life or Health) (Note: term IDLH needs to be defined) environments, a reliable, uninterrupted air supply is critical to safety and confidence. Scott, a unit of Tyco Fire & Security, offers the innovative Ska-Pak® AT which provides that panic-proof protection automatically.
Luanne Freund, Scott’s Industrial Marketing Manager states, “The revolutionary Ska-Pak AT is a supplied-air respirator with the added benefit of an automatic, hands-free air transfer capability. If the continuous air supply is interrupted, the air source is instantly switched to the portable air cylinder automatically. There’s no need to fumble for valves or check gauges. The automatic Ska-Pak AT does it all. It also features the legendary Vibralert® alarm system which lets wearers know that Ska-Pak AT has made the transfer.”
Although the Ska-Pak AT is automatic, it also provides all the information user’s need about their air supply. The Vibralert® alarm automatically senses the transfer of air from one source to another, and responds by gently vibrating the facepiece to let users know that their air supply has been switched to the cylinder. The electronic cylinder indicator flashes red to notify wearers if cylinder pressure is low. The Ska-Pak AT allows for quick and simple bottle change-outs. Cylinders are easily attached or removed from the harness by means of the new E-Z Klip cylinder retention system.
