Scott Health & Safety Introduces the Proton Series of Single Gas Detection Instruments

Workers now have an option between a zero maintenance, two-year disposable single gas monitor and a single gas monitor that can be calibrated and maintained for continuous use beyond two years.

Scott Health & Safety, Monroe, NC (August 24, 2007) —Scott Health & Safety (business unit of tyco international), today announced the introduction the Proton Series of single gas monitors with the zero maintenance Proton ZM monitor and the Proton full-function single gas monitor. Both monitors are affordable, technically advanced and rugged for use in virtually any industrial application requiring gas detection for individual workers.

"With the Proton Series, we are offering the option of a serviceable single gas monitor with the Proton monitor, or one that requires no maintenance at all for the duration of its two-year life cycle with the Proton ZM monitor," says Bob Vigdor, Sales and marketing manager for Scott Health & Safety's Portable instruments group, "Both versions are designed to be ultra-compact and unobtrusive to the user, but are still rugged for use in tough environments."

The Scott Proton ZM single gas monitor offers two years of continuous protection from hydrogen sulfide (H2S) or carbon monoxide (CO) with zero maintenance – meaning there is no need to calibrate the instrument or to replace the sensor or battery. Proton ZM monitor can withstand the harshest environments and is assembled complete to meet the industry standards with an audible alarm, a bright red visual alarm, and internal vibrating alarms.

The Proton ZM monitor is the only single gas zero maintenance monitor that clearly indicates to the user when bump testing is required by displaying "test" until the actual test is performed. the instrument also displays peak value over the past 24 hour period and the instrument's remaining life, providing constant notice to users when they should replace the instrument with a new Proton ZM monitor.

The Scott Proton single gas monitor offers countless years of service and provides protection from dangerous atmospheric conditions. the specific gas each Proton monitor can detect can be chosen from a full menu of toxic sensor choices including NH3, CO, CL2, CLO2, HCN, H2S, NO, NO2, O2, PH3 and SO2. the fully serviceable Proton monitor provides direct gas readings for the sensor installed, peak exposure, STEL, and TWA on an easy to read LCD. Because the Proton single gas monitor allows sensor replacement, lithium battery replacement and field calibration, it is the best choice available for a single gas detector.

Vigdor states, "unlike typical disposable gas detection instruments that only display remaining life, the Proton monitor is a full featured personal gas detector that provides continuous, digital display of the gas concentration, STEL, TWA and peak values as well as high, low TWA and STEL alarms." integrated stainless-steel alligator clips and a steel loop ring provide options for the user to secure the instrument to unobtrusively to outerwear, a belt, or a hardhat. the loud 90dB alarms and bright LED lights will easily warn the user of dangerous atmospheres regardless of the instrument's placement on the wearer.

An available bump test station automatically verifies sensor sensitivity and response time and checks the activation of both the visual and audible alarms. an easy-to-view LED indicates pass or fail of the bump test.
