Scott Health & Safety Introduces the Scott X4™ Compressor Controller
DATELINE (October 5, 2007) – Scott Health & Safety, a part of Tyco International, is proud to introduce
the new Scott X4™ compressor controller, a vital component enhancement to its full line of breathing air
systems. Designed with “voice of the customer” input from firefighters, industrial safety professionals and
other users of Scott’s compressor line, the Scott X4 Controller controls the operation of each of Scott’s
breathing air system compressor units.
As the central monitor and controller of the compressor’s operations, the Scott X4 Controller provides
features that ensure clean, breathable air to each storage cylinder and safe operations for the user. In
addition to monitoring discharge air temperature, oil level, and filter usage, the Scott X4 Controller can
measure and stop air flow due to high carbon monoxide CO and dew point moisture levels, a unique
feature in the industry.
The X4 Controller is also programmable to meet changes in the environment. When operating in areas
with high humidity, the X4 Controller can be programmed to purge air more often to clear the process of
moisture and ensure no condensed water enters storage. Its programmability also allows for updating to
comply with changing regulations.
"Regulations vary from region to region, and state to state," says Marv Carroll, Scott's Product Line
Manager for breathing air systems, "which is why we designed programmability into the X4 controller."
Mr. Carroll explains, "For instance, a region's current code may allow for CO levels at 10 PPM, but another
area may require a lower CO level of 5 PPM. With the new Scott X4 Controller, programming the unit to the
lower level is possible and easy to accomodate."
The Scott X4 Controller is user-friendly, with easy-to-use and intuitive operational buttons, a bright multicolored
LED alarm lights, and a luminescent display that is visible in any light, including direct sunlight.
The X4 Controller also makes servicing simpler with built-in service alerts and data collecting capabilities.
It is available in the following four configurations: standard, with either CO or dew point monitoring, and
with both CO and dew point monitoring. It is also available pre-programmable for use currently in English
and the following five languages in early 2008: French, Spanish, Italian, German, and Mandarin Chinese.
