Scott Health and Safety Announces the New Eagle X™ Next Generation Thermal Imaging
Monroe, NC -- November 2, 2004 -- Scott Health & Safety, a unit of Tyco Fire &
Security, today announced the introduction of the Eagle X, a light weight, durable and
compact thermal imaging camera for firefighting applications, as well as a valuable
infrared detector for a variety of law enforcement, security, hazmat and industrial applications.
Among the lightest weight hand-held thermal imaging cameras available, the 2.6 lbs
pound Eagle X features a “look through” LCD-to-optics design that is intended to help users maintain their orientation in dark and unfamiliar surroundings. The camera features a large format 3.5 inch viewing screen to provide maximum image detail.
Contained in a compact 5 X 5 X 11.25 inch package, the Eagle X features a sure-grip handle with a “V” shape designed to provide an ergonomically-correct fit into a gloved hand. The camera may be operated in an upright or side arm position, or it may be inverted to look under objects.
The heart of the Eagle X is a 160 X120 vanadium oxide microbolometer with a dynamic
range of 1,100 degrees and a fast 60 Hz. update rate. The camera is powered by a rechargeable NiMH battery pack that provides up to two hours or continuous operation. Disposable AA batteries may also be used. An optional truck charging unit is available for vertical or horizontal mounting inside an apparatus or onto a wall.
