Accountability

Accountability encompasses those products that are used to track, find, locate or manage the activities of emergency rescue personnel and first responders or victims of emergency responses. These include thermal imaging cameras, personnel locators, respiratory air management systems and communications systems.

Thermal Imaging Cameras
Thermal imaging cameras use infrared technology to detect the temperature differences or levels of heat objects emit and displays a thermal image of the objects in real time. Thermal imaging is used to “see” the invisible light that heat emits, that the human eye cannot see. Everything with a temperature above absolute zero emits heat, a thermal imaging camera is a excellent tool in rescue operations for finding victims of fire or locating lost hikers.
Communications
Constant, clear communications is often the most important component of a complete, well-equipped safety program in any industrial setting or first responder emergency. Constant contact with safety personnel and rescue squad is often the difference between a successful operation and failure. Communications systems can consist of various components, including portable radios, facepiece integrated radio interfaces, and Bluetooth-enabled technologies that allow for wireless communications over shorter distances.
Locator
Locators are a new technology to the fire services use primarily as a personnel accountability system to locate trapped or downed firefighters, utilizing a personal-issue transmitter that automatically emits a 2.4 GHz radio frequency to a hand held receiver once a firefighter is motionless for 30 seconds or is manually triggered by a trapped or lost firefighter.
